How a Perth advisory firm invests its own capital in United States markets first — then opens the same positions to its clients.
Matic Capital is a Perth-based financial advisory firm that has held an Australian Financial Services Licence since 2004. We help Australian investors build considered exposure to United States public markets.
The firm was founded as a corporate advisory practice and has operated through more than one full market cycle — the global financial crisis, the resources boom and its unwinding, and the long US equities expansion that followed. In that time our focus has narrowed and sharpened: we now concentrate on one thing we understand deeply, which is helping clients take disciplined, fully-disclosed positions in US-listed assets.
In 2026 the practice was renamed Matic Capital — the same team, the same licence, and the same people clients have worked with for years. The name changed; the obligations and relationships did not.
Local advisers who meet clients face to face, on Perth time — not an offshore call centre.
We advise on United States–listed assets, an area we know well, rather than spreading thin across every market.
Two decades operating under AFSL 277313, through multiple market cycles.
We take our own positions first, so our interests sit alongside our clients'.
Matic is led by its founding partners, supported by a small team of advisers and client-service staff. We deliberately take on a limited number of new clients each quarter so that every relationship is handled by a partner rather than passed down a chain. Most advisers recommend positions they have never taken themselves. We do the opposite. Matic takes a position in a US-listed asset with the firm's own capital, and only then offers that same position to clients.
This is what we mean by skin in the game. Before a client is ever asked to commit, the firm has already committed — to the same asset, on the same thesis. If the position works, we benefit alongside you. If it does not, we carry the same downside. That alignment is the foundation of how we advise.
"We never open a position to a client that we haven't first taken ourselves."
The Matic principle
Full disclosure, always. Every position we make available is disclosed to clients in full before they commit — what it is, why we hold it, and the risks we see. We invest only in United States public markets, so positions are transparent, liquid and independently priced.
Discipline over noise. We are not a trading desk chasing headlines. We hold a considered book of US-listed positions and add to it slowly, on conviction, after our own capital has led the way.
The firm takes the position before any client is offered it.
Clients access the very position we hold — not a repackaged product.
Transparent, liquid, independently priced public assets.
The thesis and the risks are laid out before you commit.
A firm's judgement is tested by how it behaves when markets are hard. Ours has been operating since 2004, across the events below.
The practice is established in Perth and granted AFSL 277313, beginning as a corporate advisory firm.
The firm advises clients through the deepest market dislocation in a generation, focusing on capital preservation and disciplined re-entry.
Through the peak and unwinding of the Western Australian mining boom, the firm guides clients on positioning and diversification beyond a single-sector economy.
The firm supports the listing of Bubalus Resources on the Australian Securities Exchange — a milestone in its corporate advisory work.
The practice is renamed Matic Capital and sharpens its focus on US-market advisory built on the skin-in-the-game model.
The events above describe the firm's history and corporate advisory activity. They are not a representation of investment returns. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance. [Replace or expand with specific engagements, outcomes or case studies you wish to feature.]
